Herbal Tea Definition
- Also known as “kid’s tea,” “tisanes,” or “caffeine-free tea.”
- It does not actually contain any tea leaves, therefore is caffeine-free and kid-friendly
- Herbal tea is a combination of herbs, spices, flowers, or fruits – really anything that is an edible, non-tea plant you can put in herbal tea.
- Either does not contain caffeine or trace amounts, depending on what is in the tea blend.

Correct Brewing Temperature and Why it is Important
- 208 – 212°F, steep for 4-6 minutes
- No thermometer? No problem! Wait until the water is BOILING and the tea kettle whistles at you.
- Can tolerate boiling water. If water is not hot enough, the full flavor of the herbs won’t be extracted.
